The foundation basis for the school in Lunca Mureșului (the village named Cucerdea until 1925) was laid after the year 1700, when the first confessional school in Hungarian was founded functioning besides the Reformed Church, with two teachers. The students were studying in an old school rebuilt in 1877 and sold to the Romanian state in 1927.
