“Simion Balint” Elementary School Rosia Montana
“Simion Balint” Elementary School is located in Rosia-Montana and has six structures: “Closca” Elementary School Carpinis, The Elementary School Gura-Rosiei, The Elementary School Gura-Minei, The GPN Rosia Montana, The GPN Gura Rosiei. It was founded in the year 1961 “Simion Balint” Elementary School is located in the central area of the village Rosia Montana. It was inaugurated in the year 1961, and since 1991 the school bears the name “Simion Balint”. Simion Balint was a Romanian Greek-catholic priest, fighter in the 1848 Revolution for the rights of the Romanian nation and prefect of The Legion Auraria et Salinae or The ArgeÈ™ Legion. He is buried in Rosia Montana.
Our school is considered among the good schools of the county due to both the educational services offered by a didactic staff, endowed with special professional abilities and spirit of responsibility, and due to the support for the Instructive educational process given by parents who are constantly preoccupied by their children’s education and who made their offsprings realize that knowledge is a necessity and a way to human development.
In the last 10 years, the population of our village dropped because of the mining project, families deciding to relocate to some other areas of the county or country, which is why the school population also dropped considerably.
As years pass, the number of Romanian students is dropping inversely proportional with the number of Romany students, which led to a majority of Romany students and a minority of Romanian students especially in the structures assigned to Primary School Gura Rosiei and Primary School “Closca”, Carpinis. This is the effect of the decreasing birth rate among the Romanian population following the economic instability and the possibility of choosing the educational institution.
Nowadays, in our scholar unit are taught a number of 212 students and preschoolers, from which 14 attend the educational programme “A Second Chance” – primary school education
